Description

Atlas SEO is a digital marketing agency that specialises in high-end link building and content production.

The company was founded in January 2020 and we have enjoyed excellent growth since. We currently have over 40 people in our offices, and are undergoing a major period of expansion.

As a fast-expanding and relatively young company, we’re looking for individuals who have drive and would be interested in working their way up in a company with new opportunities constantly arising!

The Editorial Lead is responsible for leading our in-house writing team. They oversee our in-house writers and editors to ensure they are producing copy that is representative of the brand guidelines, following all provided briefs to a fantastic standard, and are producing their work at a strong, consistent pace.

The Editorial Lead should not only oversee current processes, but drive growth and efficiency by proposing new solutions and processes. They are a core part of our training and development of in-house editorial staff, monitoring their performances and fostering a hard-working yet friendly culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Strategy

  • Working alongside the Content Manager, the Editorial Lead should help plan, develop and execute new content strategies, as well as optimising existing strategies. They should align these with business objectives, company voice, and brand.
  • Regularly audit and refine content produced by in-house writers, identifying areas of weakness within the workflow and revising as needed.
  • Manage the overall workflow of their direct reports and implement workflow optimisations.
  • Set team-wide targets for quarterly and/or annual milestones.

Team Development and Leadership

  • Oversee a team of writers and editors, providing them with clear direction and feedback, and a consistent and supportive reporting line for any work or personal issues.
  • Push a positive, growth-oriented team mindset, with a focus on collaboration rather than competition.
  • Manage workflow
  • Accurately assess areas of weakness and strength in each team member, assign work reflective of that, and guide team members with training opportunities.
  • Work with the TA and People teams to execute hiring processes and disciplinary procedures where required - including annual appraisals and developmental reviews.

Content Production and Optimisation:

  • Manage the creation of high-quality, on-brand copy produced by our in-house writing team, including social copy, blogs, webcontent, linkbuilding and PR.
  • Ensure content follows all provided SEO guidelines to maximise the potential traffic and audience gains.
  • Stay informed about major changes in content creation and marketing that can be used to improve content efficiency and effectiveness.

Editorial Oversight

  • Enforce standards within written content produced by the editorial team, ensuring tone, brand and quality standards are adhered to rigorously.
  • Spot-check content with a review and approval process to ensure content remains of exceptional quality.
  • Propose new standards that will improve the overall purpose and quality of the copy produced.
  • Track new and existing projects to ensure timely completion of all orders.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work alongside the Outreach and Client Relations teams to ensure all stakeholders are adequately informed about the status of their orders.
  • Point-of-contact for content queries related to orders carried out by in-house writers.
